Chain couplings from the G&G Antriebstechnik GmbH product range are recommended as a robust and reliable shaft connection for the transmission of speed and torque in a wide power spectrum.
They can be used in a temperature range from −30°C to +220°C. Due to the usual tolerances of chains and sprockets in chain drives, installation situations with deviations in angular displacement or parallel and/or axial misalignment are tolerable within limits. However, in the interest of increasing the service life and reducing the wear on the coupling and shaft bearing, it is recommended that the shaft ends be mounted with as precise an alignment as possible. Chain couplings are only suitable to a limited extent for use under shock loads.

Chain couplings

Chain couplings consist of 2 standard sprockets according to DIN 8196, each with a hub on one side, which are connected with a duplex roller chain and a connecting link. Both assembly and disassembly are fast and easy thanks to the simple design and comparatively small dimensions. On request, we can also supply chain couplings with a different number of teeth and/or other chain types.

The maximum possible starting torque (drive/output) must not exceed the maximum permissible torque as prescribed by the table. When selecting the coupling size, the power to be transmitted (P/n) must be multiplied by the corresponding shock factor. The next largest chain coupling is then selected according to column P/n.

Shock factors e.g. for electric drives:

  • Low shock load – steady operation: P/n * 1.0
  • Medium shock load – torque fluctuations: P/n * 1.5
  • Heavy shock load – change in direction of rotation: P/n * 2.0

G&G chain couplings are supplied unassembled. The sprockets are packed individually. They are only pre-drilled. The coupling chain and chain lock are supplied loose.

On request, we are also happy to offer our couplings pre-machined for immediate installation, e.g. with fitting hole, groove according to DIN and, for special requirements, with heat treatment – induction-hardened (approx. HRC 50).
