G&G rigid couplings are torsionally rigid connections with both identical and different shaft diameters. They enable the transmission of high torques and are 100% backlash-free.
Rigid couplings are used, for example, to connect aligned shafts in positioning systems. They are also used to extend and interrupt drive shafts and as connections between motor shafts and gearboxes. Rigid couplings are wear-free, maintenance-free and can be used for both directions of rotation. They are therefore considered extremely reliable and easy-to-install shaft connections in mechanical and plant engineering.

Rigid couplings for mechanical engineering
As torsionally rigid connecting elements, rigid couplings from G&G transmit rotary motion and torque. They have a comparatively simple design, enclosing the two shaft ends and clamped in a friction-locked manner by the bolted connections. The shaft ends should be arranged edge-to-edge as flush as possible.
Unlike claw couplings, rigid couplings do not allow compensation for shaft misalignment. Furthermore, it does not provide any vibration damping. However, rigid couplings guarantee a very stable shaft connection and backlash-free transmission of high torques. Also, reversibility is ensured without limiting the torque range.
This type of coupling is used in all areas of mechanical and plant engineering. The G&G range of rigid couplings is therefore broad. It is divided into slotted and split serieswith and without groove and made of steel or stainless steel.
The particularly easy-to-install split couplings with cast bodies according to DIN 115 occupy a special place in our range.

Assembly and safety
G&G rigid couplings are easy to install without dismantling the shafts. As vibrations or shocks can occur in many drives, the bolts must be secured accordingly. For G&G couplings, this is achieved using a special chemical-based thread locker. This ensures that the clamping force of the coupling is maintained over a long period of time.
Materials for rigid couplings
The standard material for G&G rigid couplings is steel. Stainless steel series are available for use in corrosive or hygiene-sensitive areas – in all three designs (slotted, split and flex-split).
