Splined shaft sleeves for your drive solution

Splined shaft sleeve round

Every splined shaft needs (at least) one splined shaft sleeve. G&G offers a wide range of round splined shaft sleeves, both short and long, with or without flange and made of different materials.

Splined shaft drives and thus splined shaft sleeves or splined shaft hubs are used wherever positive and low-wear power transmission is required shaft to hub. The range of applications therefore covers the entirety of machine and plant engineering, including special-purpose machinery construction.

In addition to our catalogue range, G&G can also supply special splined shaft sleeve designs based on drawings or samples on request. You can find more information at contact(at)gg-antriebstechnik.de.

Further information

Splined shaft drives are shaft-hub connections with splined shaft sleeves as the hub element. The splined inner profile of the sleeve engages with the shaft and enables positive torque transmission. Compared to other shaft-hub connections, these drives allow the transmission of high torques with comparatively low wear and without the risk of slippage, even if the drive system is subjected to shock loads.

Fit

The fit is the parameter by which the user can decide whether or not the sleeve should be axially movable on the shaft. There are three different basic fits: clearance fits, transition fits and interference fits. The type of fit is determined by the contour of the profiling, in particular the three parameters spline width, root diameter and outside diameter.

Materials for splined shaft sleeves

G&G splined shaft sleeves are optionally manufactured from tempered steel C45, stainless steel VA 1.4301 or bronze RG7 (similar to DIN ISO 14).

Standards for splined shaft sleeves

DIN ISO 14 describes the dimensions and tolerances of splined shaft connections with straight flanks and internal centring. This standard is relevant for both splined shafts and the associated sleeves. The industry-specific C standards DIN 5471 and 5472 specify the dimensions of splined shaft profiles and splined hub profiles with 4 or 6 splines and internal centring. The US standards SAE J499 and SAE J501 are relevant to machine manufacturers who supply to the USA. They describe splined profiles and shaft ends in accordance with American standards.

Production

Machining methods used to manufacture the profiles of splined shaft sleeves are broaching, eroding and drawing (on a keyseating machine).

Product range

We offer splined shaft sleeves with and without flanges for splined shafts in various materials and with outer diameters of 14 to 54 mm. Matching shaft collars are also part of our range.

We can also custom-manufacture splined hubs/sleeves based on drawings on request.
